Her son Mark, noticed memory loss three years ago which progressed and she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and then continued to deteriorate rapidly.

]]>The villagers are very small, generally less than three feet tall, and have a rare condition known as Laron syndrome or Laron-type dwarfism. The most amazing finding is these individuals are COMPLETELY FREE OF DIABETES AND CANCER, even though many are obese.
Here is a 67-year-old man who has Laron-type dwarfism with his daughter, 5, and sons, 7 and 10.
These persons have a defective ability to produce a growth hormone called insulin-like growth factor, or IGF-1 which makes the children grow. If the Laron patients are given doses of IGF-1 before puberty, they can grow to fairly normal height.

Studies in animals have shown that triclosan and triclocarban can disrupt the normal development of the reproductive system and metabolism, and health experts warn that their effects could be the same in humans.
Triclocarban is an older chemical, part of the family of organochlorines, like the pesticide DDT and hexachlorophene, some of which were eventually banned. Newer chemicals are much lighter on the environment, he said, but triclocarban takes a very long time to disappear. In a series of experiments, the results found that the vegan blood (after maintaining a year long plant-based diet) had nearly 8 times the stopping power when it comes to cancer cell growth. Stress management groups, yoga, and some other techniques were utilized to show how lifestyle effects cancer, as well, with diet still taking the cake.
Another similar but short-term experiment found a dramatic strengthening of cancer defense against breast cancer after only 14 days of plant-based eating and light exercise. Only two weeks of making fruits, veg, and legumes the priority saw that the woman tested had significantly slowed cancer growth. A separate trial ran to make sure the exercise wasn’t the true cancer-killer, and found that while it did help, plant-based diets were still twice as powerful at attacking cancer cells.

There are also others similar to Rapadura, such as Sucanat (USA – a trade name), and Jaggery (India). Jaggery can refer to either whole cane sugar or date palm sugar, and is solidified and formed into cakes, which can then be grated for use.
It still has the natural balance of sucrose, glucose, and fructose, and contains components essential for its’ digestion. It is metabolized more slowly than white sugar, and therefore will not affect your blood sugar levels as much as refined sugars. The more refined the sugar, the quicker it raises your blood sugar levels.
Muscavado, Turbinado, Demarara and ‘Organic Raw Sugar’ are all refined sugars (and raw sugar isn’t raw, in case you were wondering). They are the product of heating, clarifying, then dehydrating the cane juice until crystals form, then spinning it in a centrifuge so the crystals are separated from the syrupy juice (producing molasses). The clarifying process is usually done with chemicals, although sometimes through pressure filtration. The crystals are then reunited with some of the molasses in artificial proportions. The molasses contains vitamins and minerals, and is recommended for a healthy diet, but the crystals themselves are pretty much highly refined ’empty carbs.’ When these sugars are sold as ‘organic’, people often think this means unrefined, but all it really means is that the cane is grown with organic agricultural methods, then the sugars are refined as usual.
WHITE SUGAR is refined much further using chemicals such as sulphur dioxide, lime, phosphoric acid, bleaching agents & viscosity reducers. The mineral salts, considered as impurities are removed and only leave a little behind, counted in milligrams.
BROWN SUGAR is just refined white sugar with some molasses added.

RECIPE from PURE JUICE or CIDER:
1) Make juice or cider from unspoiled apples (no bruised parts)
2) Pour the juice into a very clean wide-mouthed jar and cover with multiple layers of cheese cloth and a fasten with a rubber band (so it breathes and no fruit flies can enter)
3) Keep in a warm room (60-80 degrees F) away from sunlight
4) Stir daily, eventually the solution will become cloudy and a "membrane" will grow on the bottom and possibly even a white film on the top- both are normal and healthy- these are the "mother bacteria"
5) Taste every other day after 3- 4 weeks, if not strong enough let stand longer
6) When it is to your desire then filter with the cheesecloth and store in the refrigerator.
7) For a faster more potent batch take some of the mother from this batch and mix it with the next batch
RECIPE FROM CHUNKED APPLES:
1) Cut apples in small chunks and remove all bruises and fill up a very clean wide-mouthed jar
2) Make a liquid solution with 1 cup water to 1 Tbs evaporated cane juice (sucanat, panela, turbinado, muscavado) and pour over the top of the apples to the top until all are covered
3) Cover with multiple layers of cheese cloth and a rubber band to allow oxygen to breathe and the fruit flies out.
4) Place in a warm room (60-80 degrees F) away from sunlight for 3-4 weeks until you notice a cloudy substance in the jar (the "mother") (bubbles will indicate fermentation after the first 3-4 days)
5) Strain the mixture with the cheese cloth or coffee filters (you can use some of this soft apple pieces for your next batch as a starter)
6) Return this liquid back into the jar and cover with the cheese cloth and return to the warm room stirring every other day. There will be a white film on the top and that is healthy, any other color (black, brown, grey, green, blue) is not healthy- throw away.
7) After four more weeks see if it is to your liking or if you want to let it stand longer for more acidity.
8) store in refrigerator as long as you desire- it does not spoil
Those concerned about the added sugar please do not be. The sugars will be converted first to alcohol (yes it will be a hard cider so refrain from drinking it all before it becomes vinegar :)) and then over time the bacteria will convert the alcohol to acid. For a more mild vinegar bottle it earlier, for a more pungent allow it to sit longer.
As a tonic take a tablespoon directly before meals as a digestive stimulant or even consider an "apple cider vinegar fast" with water and apple cider vinegar and honey for a day. It can also be used topically as an excellent wash for fungus or other skin ailments.
]]>Using data from more than 5 million Danish citizens, the team discovered that patients with rosacea had a 7 percent increased risk of dementia and 25 percent increased risk of Alzheimer's disease compared to those without rosacea.
The researchers are not able to understand a reasoning behind this connection at this point, but from my clinical experience I feel it has something to do with toxicity. Today we are exposed to more chemicals than all of history and our rates of autoimmune disease and cancer are increasing like never before. The very chemicals that cause the auto-immune conditions and increased cancer rates have been shown to deplete anti-oxidants in the liver. It's not clear if the migraine sufferer has a disproportionate amount of bacteria or if they are more sensitive to Nitric Oxide in general.
'Certain foods have been known to trigger migraines — chocolate, wine and especially foods containing nitrates such as preserved meats and cheeses.

Guidelines for Taking Probiotics With Antibiotics
If you're taking an antibiotic, don't simultaneously take the probiotic as the antibiotic is liable to simply kill the bacteria off. Instead, take them a few hours before or after taking the antibiotic. From the clinical research Leyer has done, this strategy appears to work quite well.
WHICH TYPE TO TAKE?
Look for a product containing multiple species of bacteria, as high diversity tends to be associated with better health. That said, products containing species of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria are generally recommended.
Examples would be Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus plantarum. These organisms predominantly reside in the small intestine or the upper gastrointestinal tract (GI) where a vast majority of your immune cells reside.
Bifidobacteria, on the other hand, reside in the large intestine or the lower bowel, which is another critical location associated with health. Bifidobacterium lactis, Bifidobacterium longum, and Bifidobacterium bifidum are important ones.
DOS:
Eat plenty of fermented foods. Healthy choices include lassi, fermented grass-fed organic milk such as kefir, natto (fermented soy), and fermented vegetables.
Boost your soluble and insoluble fiber intake, focusing on vegetables, nuts, and seeds, including sprouted seeds.

Research has shown that washing your dishes by hand leaves more bacteria on the dishes than dishwashers do, and that eating off these less-than-sterile dishes may actually decrease your risk of allergies by stimulating your immune system. Antibacterial soap, as they too kill off both good and bad bacteria, and contribute to the development of antibiotic resistance.

Researchers implanted mice with bacteria from people with Parkinson's disease and found the mice came down with Parkinson's-like symptoms.
The researchers suggest that the presence of gut bacteria caused the proliferation of a protein "alpha-synuclein" which is found in patients with Parkinson's.
Researchers found that the presence of gut bacteria seems to enhance the brain's inflammatory response and may lead to Parkinson's symptoms
Does this mean that Parkinson's is essentially a gut disorder and could potentially be treated or prevented with antibiotics?
In my professional opinion, it is probably a lot more complicated, but if Parkinson's or other neurodegenerative diseases are in the genetic line, it may be wise for family members to optimize the health of the digestive system- especially how the gastric cells produce hydrochloric acid and the large intestine harbors different populations of probiotics.
This is an exciting new development that could ultimately revolutionize treatment options for Parkinson's.

"On a summer morning in 2013, Octavian Mihai ...swallowed a capsule of psilocybin, an ingredient found in hallucinogenic mushrooms. Then he put on an eye mask and headphones and lay down on a couch. Soon, images flew by like shooting stars: a spinning world that looked like a blue-green chessboard; himself on a stretcher in front of a hospital; his parents, gazing at him with aching sadness as he reached out to them, infused with childlike love.
Psilocybin has been illegal in the United States for more than 40 years. But Mr. Mihai, who had just finished treatment for Stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, was participating in a study looking at whether the drug can reduce anxiety and depression in cancer patients. Throughout that eight-hour session, a psychiatrist and a social worker from NYU Langone Medical Center stayed by his side.
Published Thursday, the results from that study, were striking. About 80 PERCENT OF CANCER PATIENTS SHOWED CLINICALLY SIGNIFICANT REDUCTIONS IN BOTH ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION WHICH SUSTAINED FOR SEVEN MONTHS AFTER THE SINGLE DOSE. Side effects were minimal.
Although cancer patients will not have access to therapeutically administered psilocybin anytime soon, the findings add vigor to applications to expand research in a multicenter trial with hundreds of participants.
“Medical marijuana got its foot in the door by making the appeal that ‘cancer patients are suffering, they’re near death, so for compassionate purposes, let’s make it available. And then you’re able to extend this drug to other purposes.”
Three years later, Mr. Mihai, now 25 and a physician assistant in Las Vegas, said, “I’m not anxious about cancer anymore. I’m not anxious about dying.” The session, he added, “has made my life richer.”
The participants in this study were all volunteers who had diagnoses of cancer-related anxiety or depression. Patients were randomly given a placebo or synthetic psilocybin, and not told which. Within seven weeks, they were given the other sample.
Researchers created seven-hour music playlists, paced to the anticipated rhythms of the drug reaction. N.Y.U. leaned toward New Age and world music — Brian Eno; sitars; didgeridoos. Johns Hopkins favored Western classical.
At N.Y.U., psychotherapists tried to layer the session into patients’ memories by asking them to write about their visions in a journal and discuss the experience in meetings. The Johns Hopkins study, led by Roland R. Griffiths, a psychopharmacologist, had monitors who urged participants to “trust, let go and be open.”
The N.Y.U. researchers assessed patients the next day and found the effects to be immediate in most of them.
Dr. Stephen Ross, the lead investigator and chief of addiction psychiatry at N.Y.U., pointed out that antidepressants, by contrast, can take weeks to show benefit. This is especially valuable when cancer patients with anxiety and depression are at an elevated risk for suicide.
As one patient puts it "I have a greater sense of peace of what might come. I’m very grateful, beyond words, for this trial. But you have to approach the session with the right intentions of why you’re doing it. Because you’re going to meet yourself. ”
Researchers do not know why psilocybin has worked in these settings. Neuroimaging scans of healthy volunteers show areas of the brain lighting up or resting during dosing. Hallucinogens activate a serotonin receptor that can lead to the alterations of consciousness reported routinely.
One theory is that psilocybin interrupts the circuitry of self-absorbed thinking that is so pronounced in depressed people, making way for a mystical experience of selfless unity."
